Faith and HIV Advocacy Fellowship

Program Overview

In partnership with Faith COMPASS Center at Wake Forest University School of Divinity, Pride in the Pews is pleased to offer the 2024-2025 Faith and HIV Advocacy Fellowship (FHF). FHF is a nationwide leadership development program for Southern Black faith leaders interested in advancing conversation and action at the intersections of HIV and AIDS, the Black Church, and LGBTQ+ identity. Selected Black faith leaders will implement a congregation-based project focused on HIV and AIDS advocacy and destigmatization in the South. They will receive a $4,000 grant, 1-on-1 consulting support, ongoing learning opportunities, and one all-expenses-paid trip to Nashville for a mandatory cohort convening.  

All Black congregations in the U.S. South are eligible to apply. These states include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.  

Dates & Deadlines

All grants will be awarded on a rolling basis, with priority given to early applicants. The application deadline is August 23, 2024. The grant implementation period will commence in October 2024 and conclude in September 2025. 

FAQ

  • No. Only churches in the US South are eligible to apply. These states include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.  

  • If your congregation/ faith community is primarily comprised of Black people or your senior leadership team is primarily lead by Black people, we consider your church to be a Black church.

  • Yes. The focus of the grant is to destigamtize HIV in the South and to support Southern faith leaders to advance HIV conversations and advocacy.

  • Yes. Applicants are required to apply in teams of three. Attendance is required for every meeting. Please review the RFP for dates and more details.
